NMC Conclusions

At the heart of Nine Mile Canyon lies the sacred past of multiple Native nations. Today, the Canyon is a popular place for tourists and corporations, and Native communities strive to preserve their past in hopes of further educating every Canyon visitor about Fremont culture. In every case regarding preserving Nine Mile Canyon, however, Native communities have to turn to outside organizations for support. Their cases, rather than focusing on sacred land claims, are instead altered toward environmental concerns in order to gain public interest.
